Serving Communities

Our Aspiration

Walmart aspires to contribute to the vitality and resilience of the communities we serve — acting as a trusted neighbor and using our presence, relationships, and resources to help people live better.

Relevance to Our Business and Society

Walmart serves hundreds of millions of customers every week and employs approximately 2.1 million associates who live and work in thousands of communities around our stores, clubs, distribution and fulfillment centers, and offices. Contributing to these communities supports our customers and associates while providing a more productive and resilient operating environment for our business.

Providing Access to Affordable, Quality Products and Services

We serve communities every day through access, convenience, and price leadership on essential goods and services.

  • Approximately 90% of the U.S. population lives within 10 miles of a Walmart store or club, while same-day delivery reaches 95% of U.S. households. More than 8,400 pickup and delivery locations and fulfillment from local stores help make essential products more accessible and affordable.
  • Private brands help expand affordable choices for customers. Walmart U.S. has 21 private brands that each generate more than $1 billion in annual sales. In FY2026, Sam's Club U.S. achieved its Member's Mark Made Without goal, eliminating more than 40 unwanted ingredients and certified synthetic colors from food and beverage products. Walmart U.S. also announced plans to remove synthetic dyes and an additional 30 ingredients from private brand foods; as of FYE2026, 90.9% of private brand food products are free of synthetic dyes.
  • Walmart seeks to make it as easy as possible for all customers to enjoy convenience. Customers can use SNAP benefits in all 50 states and eligible online services, while WIC online shopping is being piloted in select states.
  • Walmart also provides health, wellness, and financial services through pharmacies, vision centers, OnePay, and in-store money services.

Contributing to Community Economic Vitality

Walmart makes local economies stronger through good jobs, opportunities for suppliers and sellers to grow their businesses, tax contributions, and infrastructure investment.

  • Walmart provides millions of good jobs with opportunities for advancement in thousands of communities across the U.S. and internationally. Walmart has increased U.S. average hourly wages by 93% since 2015 and has invested $1 billion in career-focused training since 2021.
  • More than two-thirds of Walmart U.S. product spend was on items made, grown, or assembled in the United States in FY2026.
  • FY2024–FY2026, Walmart paid more than $17 billion in income-based taxes globally and collected $22.6 billion in sales taxes in FY2026. Investments in stores, supply chain facilities, and energy infrastructure also support local economies.

Fostering Community Engagement

Walmart mobilizes associates, customers, and resources to support people and organizations, with our locations serving as community hubs that reflect and respond to local priorities and needs.

  • Walmart and the Walmart Foundation donated $1.97 billion through cash and in-kind donations in FY2026.
  • Walmart’s Spark Good platform connected 71,700 U.S. organizations with giving and volunteer opportunities.
  • U.S. associates reported 283,000 volunteer hours, generating Spark Good volunteer matching donations for each eligible hour. In FY2026, associates donated $13.7 million through Spark Good, and Walmart and the Walmart Foundation matched more than $15.5 million.
  • Walmart donated 769 million pounds of food in the United States in FY2026, with nearly all U.S. stores and clubs participating in food donation programs, while supporting Feeding America through infrastructure and technology initiatives.
