Ethics and Compliance

Our Aspiration

Walmart strives to make trust a competitive advantage. Modeling the highest standards of ethics and compliance helps us maintain a culture of integrity, which builds trust in our business.

Relevance to Our Business and Society

Businesses with high ethics and compliance standards ground their decisions in those standards, acting swiftly to identify and address issues to mitigate risk and cultivate trust. We believe trust is a competitive advantage–a reason associates, customers, investors, suppliers, and business partners choose to do business with Walmart. At every level of our company, we work to create a culture that inspires trust among the communities we serve.

Ethics and Compliance Program Foundations

Promoting a corporate culture of integrity, creating the building blocks for an effective program, and fostering continuous improvement.

  • Walmart maintains a risk-based global ethics and compliance program aligned to DOJ guidance, supported by leadership oversight, market governance, risk assessments, policies, training, monitoring, confidential reporting, investigations, and continuous improvement.
  • Associate feedback helps assess integrity culture and informs action plans. Ethics training is tailored by role, while reporting channels are available 24/7 in multiple languages for associates and third parties.

Walmart Code of Conduct and Standards for Suppliers and Sellers

Defining our values, principles, and expected behaviors—including legal compliance, ethics training, and accountability—for all Walmart associates and extending these expectations to business partners and their supply chains.

  • The Walmart Code of Conduct applies to associates and directors, outlines behavioral expectations, and is reinforced through onboarding and recurring training. An annual Integrity in Action Award recognizes associates who demonstrate ethical leadership.
  •  Walmart extends expectations to suppliers, Marketplace sellers, and other business partners through its Standards for Suppliers and Marketplace Seller Code of Conduct.

Effective Compliance Programs

Building trust through compliance programs that reflect the size, complexity, and unique aspects of our business, including anti-corruption, antitrust, worker health and safety, prevention of discrimination and harassment, and food and product safety.

  • Programs address discrimination and harassment, anti-corruption, antitrust, workplace safety, food safety and product safety through policies, training, monitoring and risk-based controls.
  • Workplace safety practices include role-based training, independent assessments and continuous improvement. Walmart’s safety performance in our U.S. distribution and fulfillment operations is better than industry average in terms of incident rates and lost-time case rates, and Walmart’s U.S. store and club performance is comparable to industry benchmarks. These trends reflect our continued focus on prevention, training, and operational discipline.
  • Food safety applies a farm-to-table approach across suppliers, owned manufacturing, logistics and retail operations. In FY2026, 745,000 U.S. associates completed at least one food safety course, more than 69,000 independent audits were conducted, and over 215 million digital food safety assessments were completed.
  • Product safety requirements apply to Walmart operations and Marketplace sellers through supplier standards, testing, recalls, and customer communications, supported by participation in the U.S. CPSC Retailer Reporting Program.
