Our Aspiration
Walmart aspires to be the trusted partner for customers to live better through healthier, accessible, affordable, and convenient food and wellness solutions.
Relevance to Our Business and Society
Food and health are part of customers’ daily lives and part of Walmart’s core business. Many customers want to eat well, manage their health, and build healthier routines, but cost, access, time, and confusion about available choices can get in the way.
Walmart can help address these barriers through our price leadership, omnichannel offerings, private brands, pharmacies, vision centers, wellness products, and care services. By making healthier food and wellness options more practical for more people, we can support customers while strengthening trust, loyalty, and our relevance in their daily lives.
Expanding Access to Affordable, Healthier Foods
Working to make healthier food choices more affordable and accessible by offering a broad assortment of fresh, wellness-oriented, and “made without” foods; using our everyday low price model and private brands to support value, and connecting customers to options through our stores, digital channels, and eligible benefit programs.
- Walmart's scale helps expand access: we have more than 10,900 stores and clubs globally; approximately 90% of the U.S. population lives within 10 miles of a store or club; more than 8,400 locations offer pickup or delivery; same-day delivery reaches 95% of U.S. households.
- Walmart offers a broad assortment of nutritious food options. Grocery represents a majority of Walmart's U.S. sales, and Walmart is the largest seller of fresh produce in America.
- Private brands help expand affordable choices for customers. Walmart U.S. has 21 private brands that each generate more than $1 billion in annual sales. In FY2026, Sam's Club U.S. achieved its Member's Mark Made Without goal, eliminating more than 40 unwanted ingredients and certified synthetic colors from food and beverage products. Walmart U.S. also announced plans to remove synthetic dyes and an additional 30 ingredients from private brand foods; as of FYE2026, 90.9% of private brand food products are free of synthetic dyes.
- Walmart collaborates with suppliers to expand products featuring higher protein, added fiber, simpler ingredients, reduced artificial additives, and improved nutrition profiles while maintaining customer choice.
- Through everyday low prices, private brands, sourcing capabilities, and rollbacks, Walmart works to make healthier foods more affordable. We estimate Walmart U.S. customers saved $1.64 billion in FY2026 through price gaps on fresh fruits and vegetables, while Great Value products save an average family up to 35% annually compared with national brands.
