MUSIC: Wal-Mart does not carry music that has the “parental advisory” label which warns parents about explicit lyrics. We carry some "edited" versions of music that have been provided by the artist or the music label. Wal-Mart does not edit music. Our role is simply to provide music selections that we believe our customers want to buy.
MOVIES: We carry movies that are rated by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), made-for- television movies as well as other television programming. We take our role as a responsible retailer seriously and, since we do carry some “R” rated selections, we have set our cash registers to prompt the cashier to ask for identification showing that the customer is 17 before a customer may purchase this rating. We do not carry any adult-rated titles.
VIDEO GAMES: At Wal-Mart we make every effort to be a responsible retailer and this includes the sale of video games and computer software games. All of these items that we carry are rated by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) and we carry no adult-rated video or computer software games. We have programmed all cash registers to automatically prompt associates to check the age of to ensure the customer is 17 years or older when a "Mature" video game is scaned. All of our stores are required to have the ESRB rating information posted in the electronics area to help our customers make informed decisions about the video and software games they wish to purchase.
