JACKSONVILLE, Fla., June 3, 2013 – Jacksonville shoppers in all areas of the city will have a new, convenient option for their grocery shopping needs when three Walmart Neighborhood Markets open on the same day in June.

The stores will open Wednesday, June 12, following brief ribbon-cutting ceremonies at each location. The stores are approximately 40,000 square feet and will be open from 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week, offering a variety of groceries, pharmacy services and household goods.

The stores are located at:

  • 8011 Merrill Road, Suite 9, in Jacksonville
  • 10550 Old Saint Augustine Road in Jacksonville
  • 2570 County Road 220 in Middleburg

"I am grateful Walmart chose to open one of its premier Walmart Neighborhood Markets in Arlington. It will positively impact the community by bringing jobs, increasing available grocery options and utilizing space in an existing shopping center to operate," said Jacksonville City Council Vice President-Elect Clay Yarborough.

"It is a pleasure to welcome Walmart Neighborhood Market to the Mandarin Community. The arrival of the store to our area signifies a wider array of choices for our families and their needs. With competitive prices and the creation of new jobs, the Walmart Neighborhood Market will have a significant, positive economic impact in our community, and I look forward to shopping there in the future," said Jacksonville City Councilman, Matt Schellenberg.

Smaller Store, More Convenience
The Walmart Neighborhood Market format offers quick and convenient shopping, with a full grocery department, including organic and natural selections. The stores feature a fresh produce, a deli, self-serve bakery, prepared food options, fresh-baked breads and more.

The first Walmart Neighborhood Market opened in 1998, and there are now approximately 250 of them nationwide.

"We're proud of our new store and look forward to welcoming customers and becoming involved in the community," said Carrie Brown, store manager of the Middleburg store.

"Clay County is excited to have Walmart choose us as one of the first locations in North Florida for their Walmart Neighborhood Market concept. We welcome them, the jobs they are bringing and the strong economic impact that they will have in our community," said Commissioner Ronnie Robinson, Clay County Board of County Commissioners.

Full-service pharmacy
The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services, and a drive-thru lane makes dropping off and picking up prescriptions easy. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and offer health and wellness solutions.

Community Giving
The grand-opening celebrations include presentations of grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to local community groups.

New Stores, New Jobs
The new stores combine to employ approximately 200 full- and part-time associates. The three store managers have a combined 55 years in the Jacksonville area, and are excited about bringing customers savings on local products they desire.

A Big Family Welcome
Walmart is happy to be part of the Jacksonville community and is ready to celebrate with residents on Saturday, June 15 at each store. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet the store managers and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last. Join the celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
