Bentonville, Arkansas, - Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., reported net sales for the four week period ended October 30, 1998, of $10,384,000,000, an increase of 13.5% from the $9,146,000,000 in the similar period in the prior year. Sales for the thirty-nine week period were $96,907,000,000, an increase of 16.9% from the $82,910,000,000 in the similar period in the prior year.

SAM'S Clubs sales for the four-week period were $1,716,000,000, up 8.1% from sales of $1,588,000,000 in the similar prior year period. Club sales for the thirty-nine weeks of $16,323,000,000 were up 10.2% from the $14,817,000,000 in the similar prior year period.
