What is Walmart doing to prevent tobacco sales to minors?

We take seriously our responsibilities as a retailer and are committed to taking steps aimed at preventing the sale of tobacco products to minors in our stores and clubs. That’s why we have made two significant changes to our product offerings and business practices, both aimed at reducing the likelihood of an underage sale.

In September 2019, we announced that we will discontinue the sale of electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS). Additionally, in July 2019, across our entire U.S. business, we raised the minimum age to purchase tobacco products to 21.

We hope these changes will have a substantial public health impact by helping to keep tobacco products out the hands of minors.
