Cristian Barrientos Pozo is president and CEO of Walmart Mexico and Central America. With more than 26 years of experience at Walmart, Cristian is known for his customer-focused approach, his understanding of markets and competition, and his commitment to developing talent while growing the business with regeneration in mind.

Cristian previously served as president and CEO of Walmart Chile, where he led teams that oversaw tremendous growth and innovation. Prior to that, he held a variety of roles such as senior vice president of operations at Walmart de México, a position from which he drove the expansion of the operation, opening more stores and distribution centers and strengthening eCommerce.

After creating and leading the SuperBodega aCuenta brand for more than five years, in 2012 Cristian joined Walmart Mexico as vice president of operations of Bodega Aurrera. He subsequently was appointed senior vice president of the three Bodega Aurrera formats, accelerating the brand’s expansion — including opening more than 600 stores — along with developing new business prototypes. In 2018, he was named CEO and general manager of Central America, leading the market during a highly challenging time.

Cristian began his retail career as a wine buyer with Walmart Chile. He holds an undergraduate degree from Universidad Gabriela Mistral along with an MBA from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez.
