Through our Health and Wellness Compliance program, we set standards for associates to follow, provide training and tools, monitor for compliance through audits and assessments, and collaborate with stakeholders to make progress on key health care issues.
- Standards of Behavior - Our Health and Wellness Standards of Behavior introduce specific principles related to key health and wellness compliance issues. Additionally, the Standards provide guidance to our associates on what to do should a question or concern arise. By following these Standards and established policies and procedures, as well as using professional judgment, our associates are able to make decisions that are in the best interest of our patients.
- Training and Communication - We leverage a number of tools and techniques to train and communicate with our health and wellness associates. These methods help our associates to understand and execute their respective roles and responsibilities consistent with applicable rules and regulations. Some of the key health and wellness compliance topics that we routinely train and communicate on include, but are not limited to the following:
Changes to statutes and regulations;
Accommodations and accessibility;
Controlled substance dispensing;
Privacy and security of patient information; and
Fraud, waste and abuse.
- Auditing - We use a risk-based approach to identify or prevent non-compliance in key areas, including helping to ensure:
Professional standards are upheld;
Health care services are properly delivered;
Patient information is safeguarded;
Associates are appropriately licensed and credentialed; and
Claims are submitted accurately and timely for the services performed.
- Regulatory Engagement - We continually monitor the regulatory landscape to identify changes that may impact the health and wellness business. We engage with regulators and industry groups to understand any changes and to prepare our business for compliance.
