We're committed to being a part of the solution
The abuse of and addiction to prescription opioids is a serious public health issue. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, more than 2 million people in the United States suffer from substance use disorders related to prescription opioid pain relievers. The health and safety of our patients is a critical priority; that’s why we’re taking an active role in the fight against our nation’s opioid issue – one that has affected so many families and communities across America.
We have a comprehensive program with policies, programs and tools aimed at helping to curb opioid abuse and misuse. We are committed to being part of the solution both in our pharmacies and in our communities.
9/12/18 Update: We support the bipartisan effort in the Senate to pass the Opioid Crisis Response Act of 2018. This legislation includes a number of provisions that will help stem the opioid crisis and assist those in our communities who have been impacted by substance use disorder. We also appreciate the work of the House on comprehensive opioid legislation completed earlier this summer, and hope that a final package can be signed into law soon. These legislative efforts align with key components of our Opioid Stewardship Initiative.
