Make Halloween more exciting with a quick and easy dinner to enjoy before heading out for a night of trick-or-treating. In our house we do a Halloween dinner and prepare foods and snacks that are all Halloween themed. As a busy mom, everything needs to be quick and easy, so I think you will enjoy some of these ideas.

This year we are making these cute little Mummy Face Pizzas.

Mummy pizzas are easy to make and the perfect recipe to get your kids involved in the kitchen. Let your kids assemble the pizzas by laying out English muffins, spooning on pizza sauce, and adding cheese “bandages,” and black olives for eyes. Let mom run the oven. Serve your little mummy pizzas with apple slices with a fruit dip or another variety of fruit to complete the meal.

Mummy Face Pizzas
5 English muffins, cut in half
10 tablespoons Pizza Sauce
20 -25 pepperoni slices (two – three for each pizza)
10 Mozzarella cheese slices, cut into strips
One 2.25-ounce can sliced black olives

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut or split each English muffin in half. Spread one tablespoon of pizza sauce on each side.

Place two or three pepperonis on each English muffin.

Cut strips of cheese using a pizza cutter or kitchen shears. Place cheese strips over the pepperonis to resemble strips of bandages.

Place two sliced olives for eyes. Bake until cheese is melted and heated through. Cool and serve.

Recipe yields: 10 mini pizzas

Another spooky dinner option is easy Mummy Hot Dogs

Wrap hot dogs in your favorite refrigerated breadstick or crescent roll dough and leave an opening at the top for the mummy’s face. Bake the mummy dogs and add your favorite condiment, mustard or ketchup to make the eyes. My kids love these, so it’s always hard to choose between pizza and mummy hot dogs for dinner. I say just make both to please everyone.
