Walmart Announces New Neighborhood Market in Hillsboro

Smaller format store brings convenient option for affordable groceries, pharmacy and more

Hillsboro, Kansas September 11, 2014 – Today, Walmart announced plans for a Walmart Neighborhood Market at 605 Orchard Drive expected to open in spring 2015. The new store will offer customers convenient access to fresh and affordable grocery products and pharmacy services.

“We are pleased that a company of Walmart’s stature would choose Hillsboro, Kansas as a location for one of their Walmart Neighborhood Market stores,” Mayor Delores Dalke said. “We feel that this is recognition of the robust business climate that our city offers.”

The 12,000-square-foot Hillsboro Walmart Neighborhood Market will give customers quick and easy access to a wide variety of affordable products – fresh produce, a full grocery department with bakery and deli offerings, a pharmacy with popular $4 generic prescriptions, health and beauty supplies, select household items and a fueling station.

Walmart also gives customers convenient access to online items through Site to Store, a service which makes the more than one million products on Walmart.com available for purchase and delivered for free right to the Hillsboro Neighborhood Market.

“The new Walmart Neighborhood Market in Hillsboro will provide residents with a convenient option for their grocery and pharmacy needs in one central location,” Nick Berkeley, Walmart Vice President and Regional General Manager said. “We look forward to working with the city to enhance the business corridor and contribute to Hillsboro’s steadfast economic growth.”

Additionally, the Hillsboro Walmart Neighborhood Market will benefit the community by generating additional tax revenue, stimulating new investment and providing up to 30 jobs with the opportunity to build a career.
