RUSSELLVILLE, Ark., Aug. 6, 2014 – A new Walmart Neighborhood Market is opening Wednesday, Aug. 13 following a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The new store is conveniently located at 2109 W. Main St. and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Walmart is committed to investing $250 billion in products that support American manufacturing over the next 10 years. In Arkansas, Walmart buys products from Redman & Associates, a Arkansas-based manufacturer that makes ride-on toys. The Arkansas facility created 74 new jobs.
The new store employs up to 95 full- and part-time associates. Store manager Jason Fiori began his Walmart career in 1999 as an evening food stocker in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
“We continue to see growth in our population and in economic development in Russellville and we are excited for this new Walmart Neighborhood Market to open its doors,” said Mayor Bill Eaton. “Walmart is bringing steady jobs and additional tax revenue that will help fund the services demanded by the growing population of our great city.”
The grand-opening celebration includes presentations of $5,000 in grants from Walmart to local community groups. Grant recipients include Pope County Library, Dwight Elementary School and Crawford Elementary School.
In addition to the grants given as part of the grand opening, the new store will further Walmart’s pledge to fight hunger in America. Additionally, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $79 million in fiscal year 2014 in Arkansas alone.
