SPRINGDALE, Ark., Aug. 6, 2014 – Two new Walmart stores are opening Wednesday, August 13, following brief ribbon-cutting ceremonies at 7:30 a.m. The new Springdale Supercenter is conveniently located at 4870 Elm Springs Road and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The new Farmington Walmart Neighborhood Market is located at 367 Main St., and is also open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The store will provide both Springdale and Farmington residents with low prices on a broad assortment of merchandise and offer Walmart's free Site to Store program, enabling customers to choose from nearly a million additional online items that can be ordered on Walmart.com and picked up at the Springdale or Farmington stores for free, often as quickly as the same day.

The new stores employ approximately 400 full- and part-time associates in total. Springdale store manager Sherry Curtis-Swenson began her Walmart career in 1993 as a cashier. Farmington store manager Jesse Pinkston began his career with Walmart in 1997 as a meat-cutter in Fort Smith.

“I’ve hired for 300 careers, not 300 jobs,” said Curtis-Swenson. “I’m living proof that you can work your way up with Walmart and have a very productive career.”

Affordable Groceries to Meet All Your Needs
The new stores offer fresh produce and a full line of groceries from all the leading brand names, including organic and natural selections.

In addition to groceries, the Springdale Supercenter features quality, value-priced general merchandise, including electronics and back-to-school supplies. In addition, customers can shop a broader assortment of items online at Walmart.com and then pay for these purchases with cash in all of Walmart U.S. stores and Walmart Neighborhood Markets.

Both pharmacies offer a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions. Springdale and Farmington residents can easily transfer prescriptions and order refills on the go with the Walmart mobile app for iPhone and Android.

Community Giving
The Springdale grand-opening celebration includes presentations of $10,000 in grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to local community groups. The Samaritan House Community Center will receive $2500, the Springdale Senior Center’s Meals on Wheels program will receive $2500, the Springdale High School Booster Club will receive $2000, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Springdale will receive $1500, and the Springdale Animal Shelter will receive $1500.

Renewing American Manufacturing
Walmart is committed to investing $250 billion in products that support American manufacturing over the next 10 years. In Arkansas, Walmart buys products from Hanna’s Candle Company, a Fayetteville-based manufacturer that makes candles.

Walmart is happy to be part of the community and is ready to celebrate with residents on Saturday, August 16. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet the store managers and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting and free food samples while supplies last.
