TALLASSEE, Ala., July 16, 2014 – A relocated Walmart is opening Wednesday, July 23, following a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The new store is conveniently located at 2190 Gilmer Ave., relocated from 1302 Gilmer Ave., and is open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week. The store will provide Tallassee residents with low prices on a broad assortment of merchandise and offer Walmart's free Site to Store program, enabling customers to choose from nearly a million additional online items that can be ordered on Walmart.com and picked up at the Tallassee store for free, often as quickly as the same day.

The new store employs approximately 150 full- and part-time associates, including approximately 85 jobs created by the relocation. Store manager Kellye Forehand began her Walmart career in 1995 as an hourly associate.

“Our relocation allows us to not only provide the community with more options and a better shopping experience, but added jobs to the area as well,” said Forehand.

Affordable Groceries to Meet All Your Needs
The new store offers fresh produce and a full line of groceries from all the leading brand names, including organic and natural selections. There is also a wide variety of meat for your summertime grilling needs and bakery selections, including breads and desserts.

The Tallassee store also offers a full beer and wine selection located in the grocery section.

In addition to groceries, the store features quality, value-priced general merchandise, including electronics and school supplies. In addition, customers can shop a broader assortment of items online at Walmart.com and then pay for these purchases with cash in all of Walmart U.S. stores and Walmart Neighborhood Markets, including the new Tallassee store.

The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions. Tallassee residents can easily transfer prescriptions and order refills on the go with the Walmart mobile app for iPhone and Android.

“The Chamber is excited about the grand opening of the Walmart. The benefits to the Tallassee area in regards to jobs added, tax revenues increased and of course the convenience of having a Walmart with a greater selection for the public is exciting,” said Michone Roye, interim executive director of the Tallassee Chamber of Commerce. “Walmart and store manager Kelly Forehand are great supporters of the Tallassee Chamber of Commerce. We hope to see continued growth for both Tallassee and Walmart is the years to come.”
