  • Stores open 24 hours a day, seven days a week

ATLANTA, May 28, 2014 – Two new Walmart Supercenters will open Wednesday, June 4, after brief ribbon-cutting ceremonies at 7:30 a.m. The new stores are located at 97 Commerce Drive in Blue Ridge and 2200 Holly Springs Parkway in Holly Springs. Both stores are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They will provide residents new shopping convenience for their grocery and general merchandise needs. The stores also offer pharmacy services.

“I am excited about Walmart opening this new location in Fannin County and what it means for our community,” said House Speaker David Ralston.

Shopping Convenience
The stores feature quality, value-priced general merchandise, including apparel, electronics, toys, sporting goods, and lawn and garden items. They also offer a full line of groceries, including organic and natural selections in addition to local favorites.

The pharmacies offer a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions.

“This store provides a new shopping option for residents,” said Blue Ridge store manager Connie Lambert. “The community has been very excited about the new store and I can’t wait to cut the ribbon and welcome shoppers.”

Community Giving
The grand-opening celebrations also include presentations of grants totaling $12,000 from Walmart to local community groups.

In addition to the grants given as part of the grand opening, the new store will further Walmart’s pledge to fight hunger in America. As part of Walmart’s and the Walmart Foundation’s $2 billion commitment to fight hunger through 2015, Walmart stores in Texas donated approximately 59 million pounds of food, in fiscal year 2014, or the equivalent of 49.2 million meals. Additionally, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $110.8 million in fiscal year 2014 in Texas alone. New Store, New Jobs
The new stores employ approximately 500 total full- and part-time associates. Lambert began her Walmart career in 1992 as an hourly sales associate and Holly Springs store manager Robert Davis began his Walmart career in 1996 as an assistant manager trainee.

“The associates have worked hard to get this store ready for grand-opening day,” said Davis. “Now we are all looking forward to meeting customers and getting the doors open.”

A Big Family Welcome
Walmart is happy to be part of Blue Ridge and Holly Springs and is ready to celebrate with residents on Saturday, June 7 at each new store location. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet the store managers and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last. Join the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.
