SYLVESTER, Ga., May 28, 2014 – A new Walmart will open Wednesday, June 4, after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The new store at 1102 E. Franklin St. is conveniently located and is open 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week. It will provide Sylvester residents shopping convenience for their grocery and general merchandise needs. The store also offers pharmacy services.
“The Sylvester-Worth County Chamber of Commerce is looking forward to working with our new Chamber Member, Walmart, for the betterment and growth of our community,” said Karen Rackley, President/Executive Director of the Sylvester-Worth Chamber of Commerce. “With the jobs created and tax dollars that will stay at home as well as the investment that Walmart has made thus far; we are wishing Jennifer Calhoun and her staff every success.”
The store features quality, value-priced general merchandise, including apparel, electronics, toys, sporting goods, and lawn and garden items. It also offers a full line of groceries, including organic and natural selections in addition to local favorites.
The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions.
The grand-opening celebration also includes presentations of grants from Walmart to local community groups. In addition to the grants given as part of the grand opening, the new store will further Walmart’s pledge to fight hunger in America. As part of Walmart’s and the Walmart Foundation’s $2 billion commitment to fight hunger through 2015, Walmart stores in Georgia donated approximately 29.6 million pounds of food, in fiscal year 2014, or the equivalent of 24.6 million meals. Additionally, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $54 million in fiscal year 2014 in Georgia alone.
