New Walmart provides approximately 300 jobs, plus savings on wide selection of merchandise
KAUFMAN, Texas, April 16, 2014 – A new Walmart will open Wednesday, April 23, after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The new store at 300 Kings Fort Parkway is conveniently located and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It will provide Kaufman residents with one-stop shopping convenience for their grocery and general merchandise needs. The store also offers pharmacy services.
“Kaufman has long been a business-friendly community and we are excited Walmart decided to expand here to help continue the growth we are seeing in this area,” said Anne Glasscock, President/CEO, Kaufman Chamber of Commerce. “With the hundreds of jobs Walmart is bringing to the community in addition to the increase in tax revenue this store will bring, this new Walmart is a welcome addition to our community.”
One-Stop Shopping Convenience
The store features quality, value-priced general merchandise, including apparel, electronics, toys, sporting goods, and lawn and garden items. It also offers a full line of groceries, including organic and natural selections in addition to local favorites.
The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions.
The grand-opening celebration also includes presentations of grants from Walmart to local community groups.
In addition to the grants given as part of the grand opening, the new store will further Walmart’s pledge to fight hunger in America. As part of Walmart’s and the Walmart Foundation’s $2 billion commitment to fight hunger through 2015, Walmart stores in Texas donated approximately 43.7 million pounds of food, in fiscal year 2013, or the equivalent of 36.4 million meals. Additionally, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $86.2 million in fiscal year 2013 in Texas alone. Store, New Jobs
The new store employs approximately 300 full- and part-time associates. Store manager Theresa Stewart began her Walmart career in 2004 as an unloader.
“My team has worked hard to get this store ready for grand-opening day,” said Stewart. “We are excited to bring everyday low prices to Kaufman and invite the community to join us in celebrating.”
Walmart is happy to be part of the Kaufman community and is ready to celebrate with residents on Saturday, April 26. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet Stewart and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last. Join the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.
