Naperville,
Ill., March 5, 2014
– A newly relocated Walmart will open Wednesday, March 12, after a
brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The new store at 2552 W.
75th St. is conveniently located and is open 24 hours a day, seven
days a week. It will provide Naperville residents with one-stop
shopping convenience for their grocery and general merchandise needs.
The store is relocating from its previous location at 776 S. Route
59. The store also offers pharmacy services.
“We’re
so happy to welcome Walmart to its new location in Naperville on 75th
Street,” Mayor A. George Pradel said. “We’ve been patiently
waiting for this new Supercenter to be constructed and open its doors
to the public. Not only will residents have more merchandise and
amenities to choose from with this bigger store, but we’re also
proud to be retaining more than 200 jobs and bringing 80 new job
opportunities to our City.”
One-Stop
Shopping Convenience
The
store features quality, value-priced general merchandise, including
apparel, electronics, toys, sporting goods, and lawn and garden
items. It also offers a full line of groceries, including organic and
natural selections in addition to local favorites.
The
pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team
members can answer product and prescription questions and customers
can ask about health and wellness solutions.
Community
Giving
The
grand-opening celebration also includes presentations of grants from
Walmart to local community groups.
In
addition to the grants given as part of the grand opening, the new
store will further Walmart’s pledge to fight hunger in America. As
part of Walmart’s and the Walmart Foundation’s $2 billion
commitment to fight hunger through 2015, Walmart stores in Illinois
donated approximately 11.8 million pounds of food, in fiscal year
2013, or the equivalent of 9.9 million meals. Additionally, Walmart
and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $24.9 million in fiscal
year 2013 in Illinois alone. For more information on Walmart’s
fight against hunger, visit

New
Store, New Jobs
The
newly relocated store employs approximately 300 full- and part-time
associates, including 80 jobs created by the relocation. Store
manager Greg Szarynski began his Walmart career in 2009 as the store
manager at the Naperville store.
“I
look forward to providing Naperville shoppers a larger shopping
experience where they can find their home and grocery items,” said
Szarynski. “This relocation will help us continue to serve shoppers
and allows us to add approximately 80 jobs to the community.”
A
Big Family Welcome
Walmart
is happy to be part of the Naperville community and is ready to
celebrate with residents on Saturday, March 15. A Big Family Welcome
will give customers a chance to meet Szarynski and enjoy fun family
activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food
samples while supplies last. Join the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.
