N.H., Jan. 22, 2014
– An expanded Walmart will unveil the changes Wednesday, Jan. 29,
after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8 a.m. The expanded store at
33 Sherwood Drive is conveniently located and is open 6 a.m. to 10
p.m., seven days a week. It will provide Tilton residents with
one-stop shopping convenience for their grocery and general
merchandise needs. The store also offers pharmacy services.
The expansion adds approximately 30,000 square feet to the existing store and will allow for a larger selection of merchandise for customers. New departments include fresh produce, fresh bakery, meat, seafood, deli and dry grocery and expanded frozen dairy.
One-Stop Shopping Convenience
The store features quality, value-priced general merchandise, including apparel, electronics, toys, sporting goods, and lawn and garden items. It also offers a full line of groceries, including organic and natural selections in addition to local favorites.
The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions.
Over the last three years, the Tilton store has given more than $30,000 in grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to local community groups.
In addition to the grants given, the new store will further Walmart’s pledge to fight hunger in America. As part of Walmart’s and the Walmart Foundation’s $2 billion commitment to fight hunger through 2015, Walmart stores in New Hampshire donated approximately 1 million pounds of food, in fiscal year 2013, or the equivalent of 840,000 meals. Additionally, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $2.6 million in fiscal year 2013 in New Hampshire alone. Store, More Jobs
The store employs approximately 300 full- and part-time associates, including approximately 80 positions created by the expansion. Store manager Gregory Boom began his Walmart career in 2001 as an unloader, an hourly position.
“We are excited to expand our grocery offerings and bring additional jobs to Tilton,” said Boom. “We invite everyone to stop by and see the new expansion, enjoy our grand-opening festivities and take advantage of vendor promotions and giveaways.”
A Big Family Welcome
Walmart is happy to be part of the Tilton community and is ready to celebrate with residents on Saturday, Feb. 1. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet Boom and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last. Join the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.
