Walmart Neighborhood Market located at 3155 S. Federal Highway
to 95 jobs created by Delray South Walmart Neighborhood Market
open 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week
“I am excited about the opportunities that the new Walmart Neighborhood Market will bring to the South Delray Shopping Center,” said Chamber of Commerce Managing Director Todd L’Herrou. “The jobs, the shopping choices, even foot traffic to the surrounding stores are good for the entire community.”
Smaller Store, More Convenience
The Walmart Neighborhood Market format offers quick and convenient shopping, with a full-grocery department, including organic and natural selections. The store features prepared food options, fresh baked breads, self-serve deli and a bakery. The Delray South store is also tailored to the community, offering local favorites including kosher meat, grocery and deli products.
The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions.
The grand-opening celebration includes presentations of $2,500 in grants from Walmart to local community groups. Grant recipients include Delray Beach Athletic Club and Citizens for Delray’s Kids N Cops program. In addition to the grants given as part of the grand opening, the new store will further Walmart’s pledge to fight hunger in America. As part of Walmart’s and the Walmart Foundation’s $2 billion commitment to fight hunger through 2015, Walmart stores in Florida donated approximately 26.8 million pounds of food, in fiscal year 2013, or the equivalent of 22.3 million meals. Additionally, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $53.6 million in fiscal year 2013 in Florida alone. The new store employs up to 95 full- and part-time associates. The first Walmart Neighborhood Market opened in 1998, and today there are approximately 300 Walmart Neighborhood Market stores nationwide.
Store manager Bill McCarty began his Walmart career in 2011 as a co-manager in Cooper City, Fla.
“I am looking forward to showing the residents of Delray Beach the new store and all it has to offer our shoppers,” McCarty said. “We would like to invite the community to join us Wednesday, Jan. 29, for the grand-opening celebration and throughout the week to shop and enjoy the many vendors and giveaways taking place.” A Big Family Welcome
Walmart is happy to be part of the Delray Beach community and is ready to celebrate with residents on Saturday, Feb. 1. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet store manager McCarty and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last. Join the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.
