- Store open 6 a.m. – midnight, seven days a week
NORCROSS, Ga., August 7, 2013 – A new Walmart will open Wednesday, August 14, after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The new store at 4975 Jimmy Carter Blvd. is open 6 a.m. – midnight, seven days a week. It will provide Norcross residents with one-stop shopping convenience for their grocery and general merchandise needs. The store also offers pharmacy services.
"I am eager to see Wal-Mart's investment into this great community," said Gwinnett County Commissioner Lynette Howard. "Walmart Senior Manager of Public Affairs Glen Wilkins and Director of Gwinnett Planning Development Bryan Lackey did a great job understanding the issues and conveying to everyone how to keep this project on track. I would like to thank all that were involved to make this redevelopment project a new standard for others to follow."
"The redevelopment of the Greens Corner site has always been an important part of the Community Improvement District's revitalization efforts. The economic investment – through jobs and capital funding that Walmart is making in the community – is jump starting a shopping center that has been underutilized for many years," said Gwinnett Village Executive Director Chuck Warbington.
The Norcross Supercenter is one of three new Walmart stores opening in the Atlanta area on August 14.
One-Stop Shopping Convenience
The store features quality, value-priced general merchandise, including apparel, electronics, toys, jewelry, sporting goods, lawn and garden items. It also offers a full line of groceries, including organic and natural selections, fresh produce, a bakery, full-service deli, beer and wine.
The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions.
Community Giving
The grand-opening celebration also includes presentations of $6,000 in grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to local community groups, including Rockbridge Elementary School, Meadowcreek High School, Norcross Police Department, Victory World Church, Gwinnett Fire Department, and A. Worley Brown Boys and Girls Club.
New Store, New Jobs
The new store employs approximately 200 full- and part-time associates. Store manager Vladimir Mondesir began his Walmart career in 2001 as an overnight stocker in Boynton Beach, Fla.
"We are excited to bring this new Walmart store to the Norcross community," said Mondesir. "We hope everyone will come out on grand-opening day and see what we have to offer."
A Big Family Welcome
Walmart is happy to be part of the Norcross community and is ready to celebrate with residents on Saturday, August 17. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet Mondesir and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last. Join the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.
