- New Walmart Neighborhood Market located at 2827 S. Buckner Blvd.
- Up to 95 jobs created by Pleasant Grove Walmart Neighborhood Market
- Store open from 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week
DALLAS, Aug. 7, 2013 – Walmart will open a new Walmart Neighborhood Market on Wednesday, Aug. 14, after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The new store, approximately one-fourth the size of a Walmart Supercenter, is located at 2827 S. Buckner Blvd. and is open from 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week. The new store will provide local customers with a new, convenient option for their grocery shopping needs, including fresh produce and pharmacy services.
"The citizens of Southeast Dallas and District 5 are very excited that a new Walmart Neighborhood Market is coming to our neighborhood. We are in great need of more shopping opportunities from name brand national companies like Walmart," said Dallas council member Rick Callahan. "It is a win/win for Walmart, the city and the community. This means more sales tax and higher elevation of property taxes for the City of Dallas and will meet the local shopper's needs as well. This will no doubt be a magnet for additional development in our area."
Smaller Store, More Convenience
The Walmart Neighborhood Market format offers quick and convenient shopping, with a full grocery department, including organic and natural selections. The store features prepared food options, fresh-baked breads, self-serve deli and a bakery.
The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and offer health and wellness solutions.
The grand-opening celebration includes presentations of grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to local community groups.
New Store, New Jobs
The new store employs up to 95 full- and part-time associates. The first Walmart Neighborhood Market opened in 1998, and today there are approximately 250 Walmart Neighborhood Market stores nationwide.
Store manager Lee Ruiz began his Walmart career in 2003 as a department manager in Corpus Christi.
"I'm really looking forward to bringing this Neighborhood Market to the area while also getting a chance to meet and connect with our new customers," said Ruiz. "We welcome everyone to come to our grand-opening celebration to enjoy everything from sampling and giveaways to entertainment, and to step inside our new store to see the easy-to-shop layout and savings we offer on everyday products."
A Big Family Welcome
Walmart is happy to be part of the Pleasant Grove community and is ready to celebrate with residents Saturday, Aug. 17. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet Ruiz and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last. Join the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.
