ATLANTA, August 7, 2013 – Walmart will open a new Walmart Neighborhood Market Wednesday, August 14, after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The new store, approximately one quarter the size of a Walmart Supercenter, is located at 5025 Winters Chapel Road in the Winters Village Shopping Center in Peachtree Corners. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The new store will provide local customers with a new, convenient option for their grocery shopping needs, including fresh produce and pharmacy services.
"We're excited about the grand opening of the new Walmart Neighborhood Market in Peachtree Corners," said Peachtree Corners Mayor Mike Mason. "They are a great community partner that will provide both quality jobs and merchandise. Walmart's presence on Winters Chapel Road undoubtedly will boost our local economy and we are happy to welcome them."
The Peachtree Corners Walmart Neighborhood Market is one of three new Walmart stores opening in the Atlanta area on August 14.
Smaller Store, More Convenience
The Walmart Neighborhood Market format offers quick and convenient shopping, with a full grocery department, including organic and natural selections. The store features prepared food options, fresh-baked breads, self-serve deli, a bakery, health and beauty aids, beer and wine.
The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions.
The grand-opening celebration includes presentations of $8,000 in grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to local community groups.
New Store, New Jobs
The new store employs up to 95 full- and part-time associates. The first Walmart Neighborhood Market opened in 1998, and today there are approximately 250 Walmart Neighborhood Market stores nationwide.
Store manager Jerry Fleming began his Walmart career in 1993 as a maintenance associate and cart pusher in Starkville, Miss.
"My associates and I are looking forward to introducing our customers to this new format and the convenience it will bring them when they are shopping," said Fleming. "Come on out on grand-opening day and see what it's all about."
A Big Family Welcome
Walmart is happy to be part of the Peachtree Corners community and is ready to celebrate with residents on Saturday, August 17. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet Fleming and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last. Join the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.
