GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y., Aug. 1, 2013 – A newly relocated Walmart will open Wednesday, Aug. 14, after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:15 a.m. The new store at 329 S. Kingsboro Ave. is conveniently located off of Route 30A, and is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. It will provide Gloversville residents with one-stop shopping convenience for their grocery and general merchandise needs as well as pharmacy services. The store is relocating from its previous location at 233 Fifth Ave. Ext.
"I'm very excited to have Walmart as an economic partner in Gloversville," said Gloversville mayor Dayton King. "The added jobs, sales tax and property tax will help preserve services and lead to an improved economy in Fulton County."
One-Stop Shopping Convenience
The store features quality, value-priced general merchandise, including apparel, electronics, toys, sporting goods, and lawn and garden items. It also offers a full line of groceries, including organic and natural selections in addition to local favorites. An example of local products available includes Antonucci's produce.
The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions.
New Store, New Jobs
The newly relocated store employs approximately 300 full- and part-time associates, including approximately 85 jobs created by the relocation. Store manager Marvin Massey began his Walmart career in 1996 as an hourly sales associate.
"We are so excited to bring this newly relocated store to Gloversville," said Massey. "We think customers will be pleased with our selection, as well as with the savings we offer on our full line of groceries and merchandise. On grand-opening day, we will be offering product samples and giveaways, and we invite everyone to stop in and see the new store."
A Big Family Welcome
Walmart is happy to be part of the Gloversville community and is ready to celebrate with residents Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 17. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet Massey and enjoy fun family activities such as character appearances and free food samples while supplies last. Join the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.
