OMAHA, Neb., July 14, 2013 – Walmart will open Omaha's fourth Walmart Neighborhood Market on Wednesday, July 17, after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The new store, approximately one-quarter the size of a Walmart Supercenter, is located at 5051 L St. at the intersection of 50th Street and L Street and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The new store will provide local customers with a new, convenient option for their grocery shopping needs, including fresh produce and pharmacy services.
"The Greater Omaha Chamber is pleased to have this new Walmart Neighborhood Market come on line. It is a concrete display of the company's continued investment and job creation in the Omaha market," said Winsley Durand, Sr. Director of Recruitment, Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership. "This new store helps further the redevelopment of one of our targeted areas, east of 72nd Street. Ensuring high-quality food products are readily available in all parts of the Omaha metro is very important to the overall health and growth of the city. It is a pleasure to see that Walmart is making efforts to stock products from local producers and vendors on the shelves of these Walmart Neighborhood Markets."
Smaller Store, More Convenience
The Walmart Neighborhood Market format offers quick and convenient shopping, with a full grocery department, including organic and natural selections. The store features prepared food options, fresh-baked breads, self-serve deli, a bakery, rice and bean walkarounds in the produce department, beer and wine. The Omaha store is also tailored to the community, offering local favorites, including:
- Rotella's Italian Bakery bread
- James Skinner Baking Company sweet roll
- Mi Mama's Tortilla Factory tortillas
The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions.
Community Giving
The grand-opening celebration includes presentations of $8,000 in grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to local community groups.
New Store, New Jobs
The new store employs up to 95 full- and part-time associates. The first Walmart Neighborhood Market opened in 1998, and today there are approximately 250 Walmart Neighborhood Market stores nationwide.
Store manager Adam Eppert began his Walmart career in 2003 as an overnight support manager at the Lincoln store on Andermatt Drive.
"I am looking forward to working with our customers and catering to their needs with our merchandise and fresh meat and produce," said Eppert. "Come on out and see us on Grand Opening Day. It's exciting to see this new store in the neighborhood."
A Big Family Welcome
Walmart is happy to be part of the Omaha community and is ready to celebrate with residents on Saturday, July 20. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet Eppert and enjoy fun family activities. Join the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.
