PINELLAS PARK, Fla., July 8 – Walmart will open a new Walmart Neighborhood Market Wednesday, July 17, after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The new store is located at 7500 66th St. in Park 66 and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The new store will provide local customers with a new, convenient option for their grocery shopping needs, including fresh produce and pharmacy services. The Pinellas Park Neighborhood Market is one of 24 Walmart stores opening across the country on July 17th.
"Pinellas Park is excited to welcome our newest Walmart Neighborhood Market," said Mayor Sandra Bradbury. "This will be our third Walmart, joining our Supercenter and another Neighborhood Market in the City. They are a true corporate partner providing great value as well as jobs for our residents. The improvement of the Park 66 Shopping Center is a jewel in the crown of our redevelopment area."
Smaller Store, More Convenience
The Walmart Neighborhood Market format offers quick and convenient shopping, with a full grocery department. The store features fresh-baked breads, self-serve deli and a bakery.
The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions.
Community Giving
The grand-opening celebration includes presentations of $7,000 in grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to local community groups. Organizations receiving grants include Pinellas Park Police Department, Lealman Fire Department, Amputee Veteran American Support Team (AVAST), Suncoast Chapter of the Boys and Girls Club, Pinellas Secondary School, Suncoast Haven of Rest Rescue Mission, St. Giles Food Pantry, Veterans Post Village and The Veterans Post News, Salvation Army, Cross Bayou Elementary School and Pinellas Park Medical District.
New Store, New Jobs
The new store employs up to 95 full- and part-time associates. The first Walmart Neighborhood Market opened in 1998, and today there are approximately 250 Walmart Neighborhood Market stores nationwide.
Store manager Jay Kerrick began his Walmart career in 2011 as a shift manager.
"We are excited to bring this new Walmart Neighborhood Market with good jobs, great prices and convenience to the Pinellas Park community" said Kerrick. "We hope all our neighbors will come by during our grand-opening festivities to see their new store, sample products and take advantage of vendor giveaways."
A Big Family Welcome
Walmart is happy to be part of the Pinellas Park community and is ready to celebrate with residents on Saturday, July 20. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet Kerrick and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last.
