North Adams Walmart Welcomes Customers to Relocated Store

Newly relocated Walmart provides approximately 85 new jobs

NORTH ADAMS, Mass., April 24, 2013 – A newly relocated Walmart will open Wednesday, May 8, after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The new store at 1415 Curran Highway is conveniently located and is open daily from 7 a.m. to midnight. It will provide North Adams residents with one-stop shopping convenience for their grocery and general merchandise needs. The store is relocating from its previous location at 830 Curran Highway. The store also offers pharmacy services. 

“We look forward to the relocation and grand opening of the Walmart in North Adams. Not only does the new store bring additional jobs and growth to our community, it provides a convenient place for residents to shop,” said Mayor Richard J. Alcombright.

One-Stop Shopping Convenience
The store features quality, value-priced general merchandise, including apparel, electronics, toys, sporting goods, and lawn and garden items. It also offers a full line of groceries, including organic and natural selections in addition to local favorites.

The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and offer health and wellness solutions.

Community Giving
The grand-opening celebration also includes presentations of grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to local community groups including North Adams Police Department K-9 unit, Hancock Elementary School, Berkshire Arts and Technology Charter Public School, Berkshire Community Action Council, Berkshire Family and Individual Resources, Bershire Food Project and Drury High School Athletic Department.

New Store, New Jobs
The newly relocated store employs approximately 250 full- and part-time associates, including 85 jobs created by the relocation. Store manager Alexis Bartos began her Walmart career in 2003 as an intern.

“We look forward to greeting customers and sharing everything our new store has to offer when we open our doors on May 8,” said Bartos.
