Walmart Ready to Reveal New Stores to Milwaukee-Area Shoppers

New Walmart stores provide approximately 540 jobs, plus savings on wide selection of merchandise

  • New South Milwaukee store located at 222 N. Chicago Ave.
  • New West Milwaukee store located at 4140 W. Greenfield Ave.
  • Milwaukee-area Walmarts creates approximately 540 new jobs

MILWAUKEE, Wis., April 8, 2013 – Two new Walmart stores will open April 10 after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at each store at 7:30 a.m. The new stores are located at 222 N. Chicago Ave. in South Milwaukee, and 4140 W. Greenfield Ave. in West Milwaukee. Both stores will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The stores will provide Milwaukee residents with one-stop shopping convenience for their grocery and general merchandise needs. The stores will also offer pharmacy services.

One-Stop Shopping Convenience
Both stores feature quality, value-priced general merchandise, including apparel, electronics, toys, sporting goods, and lawn and garden items.  They also offer a full line of groceries, including organic and natural selections in addition to local favorites. Some local products available include Klement’s sausages, Sprecher Root Beer and Miller Brewing Company beer.

The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and offer health and wellness solutions.

Grand-Opening Events
The grand-opening celebration at the West Milwaukee store includes presentations of $3,000 in grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to charitable organizations.

The South Milwaukee store will have a presentation of $8,000 in grants to local community groups from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation. Additional grand-opening events include an appearance by former professional baseball player Jim Gantner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

New Stores, New Jobs
The new stores employ approximately 540 full- and part-time associates.  South Milwaukee store manager Michael Wolf began his career with Walmart in 1996 as cart pusher in Waukesha, Wis.

“It is very exciting to bring two new stores to the Milwaukee area,” said Wolf.  “Knowing that we are providing the Milwaukee community with everyday low prices and convenience in shopping makes my job a great job.”
