CORVALLIS, Ore., March 15, 2013 – Walmart will open the first Walmart Neighborhood Market in Corvallis on Friday, March 29, after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The new store, approximately one-third the size of a Walmart Supercenter, is located at 1840 NW. Ninth St. and is open 5 a.m. to midnight. The new store will provide local customers with a new, convenient option for their grocery shopping needs, including fresh produce and pharmacy services.
“I am looking forward to opening our new Walmart Neighborhood Market to the community of Corvallis,” said store manager J.D. Fleming. “We look forward to serving the people of our community, helping save them money so they can live better.”
Smaller Store, More Convenience
The Walmart Neighborhood Market format offers quick and convenient shopping, with a full-grocery department, including organic and natural selections. The store features prepared food options, fresh baked breads, self-serve deli and a bakery. The Corvallis store is also tailored to the community, offering local favorites.
The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and offer health and wellness solutions.
New Store, New Jobs
The new store employs approximately 70 full- and part-time associates. The first Walmart Neighborhood Market opened in 1998, and today there are approximately 230 Walmart Neighborhood Market stores nationwide.
Grand-Opening Celebrations
The store will host a grand-opening celebration at 7:30 a.m., Friday, March 29. Corvallis Mayor Julie Manning and other local dignitaries will participate in a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony. Doors to the new store will be open to the public following the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. Special events on grand-opening day, and continuing through the weekend, include character appearances, product giveaways and samplings, and various entertainment events. All events are family-friendly, free and open to the public.
