COTTAGE GROVE, Ore., March 14, 2013 –Cottage Grove residents are invited to the expanded Walmart store, which opens Wednesday, March 27, at 901 Row River Road. The grand opening is scheduled for 8 a.m., and the store will be open to the public immediately following the grand-opening ceremony. The expanded store brings approximately 60 new jobs to the area and will provide Cottage Grove residents with one-stop shopping convenience for their grocery and general merchandise needs. Following the grand opening, the store will now be open 24 hours, seven days a week.
“Congratulations to Walmart for this beautiful addition to their building. This newly remodeled building will bring additional shopping opportunities to our residents and will help introduce many visitors to our community,” said City Manager Richard Meyers. “Most importantly, the larger space and wider variety will bring many valuable jobs to the community. We are looking forward to a continued partnership with Walmart and their associates.”
One-Stop Shopping Convenience
The store features quality, value-priced general merchandise, including apparel, electronics, toys, sporting goods, and lawn and garden items. It also offers a full line of groceries, including organic and natural selections in addition to local favorites.
The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and offer health and wellness solutions.
Expanded Store, New Jobs
The store employs approximately 180 full- and part-time associates, including approximately 60 new jobs created by the expansion. Store manager Ann Steeprow began her Walmart career in 2002 as a bakery department manager.
“We would like to welcome the community to come see the expanded store which includes many fresh food options to save money and live better,” said Steeprow.
