PIKEVILLE, N.C., Jan. 14, 2013 – A new Walmart Express store will open Wednesday, Jan. 23, in Pikeville, bringing the community everyday low prices in a smaller format store. The new store is designed to make shopping quick and easy for area customers who want to save money and find what they need close to home. The new Walmart Express store is located at 303 S. “It is rewarding to be a part of impacting economic development and job creation within town limits,” said store manager Ricky West. “We are bringing affordable prices and convenience, including a gas station with diesel, right into the heart of Pikeville.”
The approximately 14,240-square-foot Walmart Express store features a pharmacy and offers groceries and general merchandise, including an assortment of fresh produce, dairy and meats, dry goods, consumables, health and beauty aids, over-the-counter medicines and more.
West, who started his Walmart career eight years ago at a store in New Bern, N.C., was assistant manager of the Walmart in Greenville before moving to the Pikeville store.
“We look forward to Walmart joining our small town, as citizens will enjoy the variety and great prices Walmart is known for, as well as the store’s gas station,” said Pikeville Mayor Johnny Weaver. “We are fortunate to have the employment opportunity Walmart provides our citizens and of course the revenue from property taxes the store will provide.”
