Smaller store offers convenient access, low prices every day
LIBERTY, N.C., Nov. 2, 2012 – A new Walmart Express store will open Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Liberty, bringing the community everyday low prices in a smaller format store. The new store is designed to make shopping quick and easy for area customers who want to save money and find what they need close to home. The new Walmart Express store is located at 632 W. Swannanoa St.
“Our new store will help to bring growth to the community, and will bring the best prices and selection of merchandise right here in Liberty,” said store manager Patty Kearns.
The 14,240-square-foot Walmart Express store features a pharmacy and offers groceries and general merchandise, including an assortment of fresh produce, dairy and meats, dry goods, consumables, health and beauty aids, over-the-counter medicines and more.
Kearns, who started her Walmart career 13 years ago at the Randleman store, was assistant manager of the Walmart in Burlington before moving to the Liberty store.
“For folks who drive to Siler City, Forest Oaks or elsewhere for groceries, prescriptions or gas, there is now another option for shopping at home,” said Liberty Mayor Terry Caviness. “We want you to shop at home and help us grow, building a better Liberty for our young people and their children.”
“By Walmart coming to Liberty, our tax base will grow, our annual revenue will increase from property taxes and sales taxes, and Walmart brings us 35 needed jobs. Walmart grants and scholarships will become an added benefit to the community, and our seniors enrolled in Walmart’s prescription program will enjoy the local convenience,” said Caviness.
Ribbon-Cutting Celebration at 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14
Caviness and other community leaders will join Walmart associates at 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, for a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new store.
The Providence Grove High School band will perform the national anthem, and the school’s color guard will present the colors. Kearns, associates and guests will cut the ribbon to officially open the new store.
On Friday, Nov. 16, the Liberty Walmart Express is celebrating the senior class, faculty and staff of Providence Grove High School with a “Senior Salute.” Associates from the new store will serve breakfast and offer a pep rally to the Class of 2013 before school, starting at 7:30 a.m.
