In August 2007, Walmart announced an agreement with Bharti Enterprises to establish a joint venture, Bharti Walmart Private Limited, for wholesale cash-and-carry and back-end supply chain management operations in India.

Total International Sales FYE 1/31/08:
$90.6 billion – 17.5 percent increase over the previous year. Operating income was $4.76 billion, an increase of 11.8 percent compared to the previous fiscal year.
For the five-week period ending January 2, 2009, $10.71 billion – a decrease of 10.4 percent over the same period last year. On a constant currency basis (i.e., assuming foreign exchange rates remained the same as the prior year), International sales increased 8.3 percent.
For the third quarter FY 2009 ending 10/31/08: $24.9 billion – an increase of 11.2 percent over the same period last year. Operating income was $1.2 billion for the quarter, an increase of 10.6 percent over the same period last year.
