In August 2007, Walmart announced an agreement with Bharti Enterprises to establish a joint venture, Bharti Walmart Private Limited, for wholesale cash-and-carry and back-end supply chain management operations in India.

90.6 billion – 17.5 percent increase over the previous year. Operating profit was $4.76 billion, an increase of 11.8 percent compared to the previous fiscal year. For the month of August 2008, $7.6 billion – an increase of 13.3 percent over the same period last year.

For the second quarter FY 2009 ending 7/31/08: $25.3 billion – an increase of 16.9 percent over the same period last year. Operating income was $1.2 billion for the quarter, an increase of 16.5 percent over the same period last year.
