In August 2007, Wal-Mart announced an agreement with Bharti Enterprises to establish a joint venture, Bharti Wal-Mart Private Limited, for wholesale cash-and-carry and back-end supply chain management operations in India.

FYE 1/31/08: 90.6 billion – 17.5 percent increase over the previous year. Operating profit was $4.76 billion, an increase of 11.8 percent compared to the previous fiscal year.

For the month of May 2008, $7.74 billion – an increase of 16.6 percent over the same period last year.

For the first quarter FY 2009 ending 4/30/08: $23.9 billion – an increase of 22 percent over the same period last year. Operating income was $1.04 billion for the quarter, an increase of 15.6 percent over the same period last year.
