Wal-Mart Provides a Rockin' Start to the School Year with High School Musical Wake-Up Calls

Retailer Teams with High School Musical 2 to Get Kids Up and Out the Door with Cast Members Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Aug. 15, 2007 – Parents across the country are sharing the same, seemingly impossible, back-to-school fantasy this time of year – rolling an enthusiastic, eager child out of bed, ready for the first days of school. This fantasy could actually become a reality with a back to school wake-up call from one of the child’s favorite High School Musical stars! With the help of Wal-Mart Stores, parents around the country can arrange for such a call that is certain to get their kids’ mornings started right and the school year off to a “Fabulous” start!

“We understand that High School Musical has a tremendous fan-following for students of all ages and we can’t imagine a more enjoyable way to get the school day off to a great start than by receiving a wake-up call from one of the students from East High,” said Eddie Tutt, Wal-Mart Stores vice president for stationery and books. “Customers can find their favorite High School Musical school gear and supplies at Wal-Mart and now they can also get into their back-to-school routines in a way that’s fun for students and parents alike. This is a great alternative to an alarm clock!”

By logging on to www.HSM2WakeUpCall.com, parents can select the date, time and theme of their child’s wake-up call. They’ll be able to select to have calls received from Sharpay or Chad and breathe easier knowing that the High School Musical characters will have them energized and excited to head back to class. There are a total of five wake-up call themes, which range from “big fan of school” to “sports fan.”

Wake-up calls begin today, Aug. 15, and run through Sept. 15, 2007. There’s no cost associated with the wake-up calls and parents can schedule a wake-up call every day of the week if they’d like. (Standard mobile phone charges may apply.) With the click of a mouse, parents can register their child for a wake-up call in as little as three hours in advance.  An e-mail will immediately be sent to the parent for confirmation of the wake-up call and must be returned for acceptance.

High School Musical is the winner of three Teen Choice Awards and winner of two Emmy’s. High School Musical 2 premieres on August 17 on the Disney Channel.

As the official retail sponsor of High School Musical 2, offering exclusive activities and Collector’s Edition Soundtrack, Wal-Mart offers parents and students the High School Musical gear, fashion and music they want for an awesome school year. In addition to a variety of High School Musical 2 selections, Wal-Mart is offering back-to-school clothing and accessories at an exceptional value. In fact, parents can spend less than $50 per child on a complete back-to-school wardrobe including enough tops, bottoms and underwear for one week of school.
