We were informed today, Aug. 14, of specific products involved in a second recall by Mattel. Whenever a manufacturer tells us of problems with their products, we swing into action right away to quickly identify any items we carry and quickly communicate with our stores to remove those items from shelves.
We also take additional steps to place an electronic block at registers to ensure these items cannot be purchased during the process. We continue to share the same concerns as parents over the recent recalls and we’re working diligently with the supplier to understand what happened.
The majority of the items involved in today’s recall were sold prior to 2007 and are no longer available at Wal-Mart. We are moving very quickly to remove any impacted products from shelves, and will provide a refund at our Customer Service Center if a customer would like to return any of the affected products to us.
We know how important it is for shoppers to feel confident in the toys they buy from Wal-Mart, so we are also in the process of examining additional quality assurance efforts with suppliers, including new testing, to provide customers with the confidence they need in the items they buy.
We’d urge customers who think they may have bought one of these toys in a Wal-Mart store to contact Mattel’s recall hotline at 1-800 916 4498 or go to the Mattel website (www.service.mattel.com) for more detail.
