BENTONVILLE, Ark., Jan. 5, 2007 --- Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT) announced that effective today Senior Vice President, Finance Charles Holley has been promoted to executive vice president, finance and treasurer. Holley, who reports to Tom Schoewe, executive vice president and chief financial officer, will continue to oversee Finance, Tax and Investor Relations and will take on additional responsibility for Treasury. Jay Fitzsimmons, currently senior vice president, treasurer, will retire Jan. 31, 2007.
In addition, Steve Whaley has been promoted from vice president, controller to senior vice president, controller, and will serve as principal accounting officer, reporting to Schoewe.
Holley joined Wal-Mart from the Tandy Corporation in 1994 and served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Wal-Mart’s International Division. He was promoted to senior vice president, controller of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. in 2003, and was named senior vice president, finance in December 2005.
