Wal-mart Announces Changes to Investor Relations Team

BENTONVILLE, Ark., Dec., 23, 2005 – Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT) announces that Charles Holley is named senior vice president of finance and will oversee investor relations for the company.  Holley, who reports to Tom Schoewe, executive vice president and chief financial officer, continues to manage other areas of finance and accounting, including tax and financial reporting.

Until this appointment, Holley served as senior vice president and controller.  He has been with Wal-Mart Stores since 1994, and has 25 years of expertise and experience in finance and accounting.  He served as chief financial officer for Wal-Mart International from 1994 to 2002.

Carol Schumacher is named vice president of investor relations, reporting to Holley and will lead all investor relations activities for the company.  Schumacher, who joined Wal-Mart in October 2004, has served as vice president of corporate affairs for the past year.  She has more than 20 years of experience in the corporate affairs area, including the retail industry.

Pauline Tureman continues to serve the company as director of investor relations and is reporting to Schumacher.  Tureman has been with Wal-Mart since 1988 and has served previously as director of professional services in optical before moving to her position in investor relations in March 2004. 

These moves allow Jay Fitzsimmons, senior vice president treasurer, to focus completely on treasury, capital markets, strategic planning and analysis, and to support merger and acquisition activity.
