Wal-Mart would like to alert its customers to a telephone solicitation scam that has been reported in various regions of the United States. As part of this scam, the person targeted may receive a telephone call in which the caller offers a Wal-Mart shopping spree and other items in exchange for a small fee, which may be paid by providing credit card information or checking account and routing numbers. This information is then used by the caller to make unauthorized charges to the victims account.
Customers who believe that they have been the victim of such a scam should report the incident to the Federal Trade Commission as soon as possible. Customers wishing to file a complaint can visit the FTC Web site at http://www.ftc.gov, where they can also learn about similar scams. Or they can call the FTC directly at 1-877-FTC HELP.
