The following information was also sent internally to our associates via a memo from Mike Duke, president & CEO, Wal-Mart Stores Division, USA.

Bob Connolly, executive vice president of marketing and consumer communications for the Wal-Mart Stores Division, has announced that he will retire at the end of this year. At this time, a replacement has not been named, however, we will be looking at external and internal talent to take on this challenging role.

Bob first joined the company in 1989 as vice president and merchandise manager of apparel and has since served in a number of senior roles at Wal-Mart including executive vice president of merchandise, senior vice president and general merchandise manager, vice president of women’s apparel and vice president of shoes and jewelry. Bob has more than 39 years in retail including serving as executive vice president at Montgomery Ward.

Bob said this about his retirement, "I will certainly miss all of my friends and co-workers at Wal-Mart. I look forward to spending more time with my wife and family and traveling abroad."

Bob has been a vital part of our company’s growth and truly understands the strength of our organization. His keen sense of knowing how to balance merchandising and the needs of our customers will truly be missed. Please join me in wishing Bob the best in his transition to retirement.
