Scott Pleiman has responsibility across the U.S. for both business facing and centralized Merchandising Operations activities. The business facing teams partner with the buying organization to drive business results via strategy development, financial planning, and business analytics across all aspects of pricing, assortment, cost, availability, and experience. The centralized teams deliver cross-business strategy and analytics, process definition/innovation, product management (e.g., new tools and capabilities), and execution leverage.
Scott joined Walmart in 2005 as Vice President of Business Strategy for Walmart U.S. In 2007, he transitioned into Finance where he held broad, advancing roles throughout the U.S. Finance organization. He has been in Merchandising since 2014.
Prior to joining Walmart, Scott led Capgemini’s (formerly Ernst & Young Management Consulting) Retail and Consumer Products Strategy practice for the U.S. He has over 15 years of consulting experience advising CEO’s and other senior executives of Fortune 500 clients. He specialized in helping clients enhance their competitive positioning and create growth strategies (new markets, products, channels, and businesses).
Scott has deep retail and consumer products industry experience with diverse functional expertise in general management, strategic planning, business process innovation, organizational design, merchandising, marketing, and finance.
Additionally, Scott worked in Ernst & Young’s public accounting practice in both the audit and tax areas. His public accounting experience cut across many industries including, banking, healthcare, industrial manufacturing, retail, and government.
Scott holds a Masters of Management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University where he concentrated in Strategy, Finance, and Marketing. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Miami University and was a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Ohio.
