Quick Facts

Walmart got its start in Arkansas in 1962. Since then, though our company has expanded across borders and overseas, the U.S. remains the heart of our business where we continue to test new ideas, learn from our customers and improve our ability to help people save money and live better.

More than 75% of our Walmart U.S. store operations management team members started as hourly employees, and in FY2021, we promoted more than 300,000 U.S. associates to jobs of greater responsibility and higher pay. The average hourly wage for full- and part-time U.S. hourly associates at the end of FY2021 was more than $15.00 per hour. Learn more about the opportunities and benefits we offer.
