We’ve always believed business can be a force for good. For over 40 years, that belief has shaped how we show up — not just for our members, but for our communities.
It all started with small acts of kindness in our earliest clubs: donations to local schools, holiday toy drives and associates stepping up in moments of need. Over time, it’s grown into something much bigger, a program of giving that now spans the country, touches thousands of organizations and is deeply woven into who we are.
During our fourth annual Day of Service, associates showed just how far we’ve come.
On April 15, thousands of associates volunteered in 44 states across the country — packing meals and essential items, building homes, supporting seniors and restoring public spaces. Associates committed to volunteering over 9,600 hours of service at more than 250 organizations across the country. Last year, that same spirit of service helped generate close to $140,000 in Spark Good Volunteerism grants — and this year’s impact is still unfolding.
But more than the numbers, it was the spirit that stood out.
In Texas, associates helped at Camp Blessing, a place that creates joy for individuals with special needs — and donated $15,000 to support their programming. That gift was made possible by several clubs combining their local grant budgets, which typically range from $6,500 to $9,000 per club. In Florida, teams at our Stuart and Ft. Pierce clubs worked side by side with Treasure Coast Food Bank, preparing enough food to support more than 2,000 families. In Tempe, associates lent a hand to local seniors by cleaning up their yards, creating safer, more welcoming spaces to enjoy.
Each of these efforts is different. But all of them reflect something bigger: a shared belief that where we do business, we also build community.
Over the decades, our giving programs have evolved — from check presentations and local sponsorships to include deeper, more strategic partnerships with organizations doing vital work year-round. And with programs like Spark Good Associate Volunteering, we’ve made it easier than ever for our associates to give back on their own terms — turning everyday moments of service into long-term community impact. For every hour volunteered, we contribute a $10 grant to the nonprofit they serve, up to 100 hours per associate per year.
Our collective impact is real. Over the last fiscal year alone, Sam’s Club associates volunteered more than 13,000 hours and dispersed more than $5.2 million in local grants to spark good in their communities.
"It’s inspiring to see how we all come together to support and strengthen our communities."
Julie Barber, Chief Merchant, Sam’s Club
We’ve come a long way. But one thing hasn’t changed: our commitment to being good neighbors.
Day of Service isn’t a one-off event. It’s a reflection of who we are and who we aspire to be, every day —in every club, in every town, in every handshake and helping hand.
Because at Sam’s Club, serving our members has always meant serving our communities — and we’re proud to keep showing up, year after year.
