Steve Bratspies is executive vice president of food for Walmart U.S.
Prior to his current role, Steve served as executive vice president of general merchandise for Walmart U.S. and was responsible for entertainment, toys, seasonal and hardlines categories. From 2009 to 2013, Steve was senior vice president of dry grocery, with responsibility for center store grocery including breakfast/baking, candy/impulse, condiment/specialty, grocery meals and frozen. With a strong focus on local assortment, innovation, price leadership, new events and promotions, he received the Merchandise Excellence Business Unit Leader of the Year award for dry grocery in 2011.
Steve joined the company in 2005 as vice president of category marketing and was promoted to senior vice president of marketing in 2007. In this role, he was responsible for all marketing activities for each merchandise category, the Walmart brand, seasonal events, multicultural and media.
Prior to joining Walmart, Steve served as chief marketing officer for Specialty Brands, worked in strategic planning and marketing for Frito-Lay and began his career in marketing strategy with five years in management consulting at Andersen Consulting and A.T. Kearney, Inc.
Steve earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Franklin and Marshall College and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
He currently serves
on the board of directors for the Food Marketing Institute and the Northwest
Arkansas Children’s Shelter. He also
serves as the executive sponsor for the Associates for Disability Awareness
& Education resource group at Walmart and on the honorary advisory board
for the Disability Rights Museum on Wheels.
