Fernando Madeira is president and chief executive officer of Walmart.com, the e-commerce website for Walmart. Fernando was appointed in 2014 to lead the Walmart.com websites in the U.S. and Latin America, accelerating the sites’ growth to deliver a seamless shopping experience for customers.
Previously, Fernando served as president and chief executive officer of Walmart eCommerce Latin America, based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Under his guidance, Walmart.com Brazil became one of the largest e-commerce companies in the country. Fernando and his team also drove triple-digit growth in Argentina, Chile and Mexico.
Prior to joining Walmart, Fernando spent 23 years as co-founder and chief executive officer of Terra, the largest internet portal in Latin America, spearheading innovations such as the first Internet TV studio in Latin America and the first legal music distribution site.
In 2004, Fernando was elected Entrepreneur of the Year of Technology by the Brazilian magazine Isto É Dinheiro. In 2007, the World Economic Forum chose Fernando as a Young Global Leader, and in 2009 he was inducted into the International Academy of Digital Arts. He earned a bachelor of computer science from Pontifícia Universidade Católica.
