Prior to his current role with Marriott, Arne was president and chief operating officer of the company from 2009 to 2012 and was executive vice president and CFO from 1998 to 2009. Previously, he was Marriott’s president of continental European lodging, where he was responsible for lodging operations and development in the continental European region.
Arne joined Marriott in 1996 as senior vice president of business development and has served as a member of the Marriott board of directors since 2011. He also co-chairs Marriott’s Green Council, whose mission is to integrate environmental sustainability into Marriott’s business strategy. Before he joined Marriott, he was a partner in the law firm of Latham & Watkins in Washington, D.C. Arne also serves as a member of the Board of Regents of Luther College.
